Sustainable Fuels Code of Best Practice lauded as an example of good product stewardship

The German Federal Ministry of Transport recently replied to the joint letter from Cefic, Europia, the European Barge Union and IAWR (congratulating the ministers of transport of the governments of Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland on having created a new treaty covering the collection and disposal of barge residues and waste on the river Rhine).

As part of their reply Germany lauded the Sustainable Fuels Code of Practice as an example of good industry product stewardship. They see the setting up of waste disposal stations as an obligation on industry (the polluter pays principle). They will now set up a roundtable of all stakeholders.
